ON Saturday, August 20, a new local group "Kaleb’s Thumbprint" held a cream teas afternoon with stalls event and prize raffle to raise vital funds for the charity, Children’s Hospice South West (CHSW).

The events, at North Tawton Youth Centre, attracted a steady stream of people during the afternoon.

It was the first the CHSW friends group has organised and all the money raised is for the charity.

It was after losing 18-month old Kaleb last year that the family wanted to raise as much money, and awareness, as possible for what they described as "this fantastic charity."

Luke Compton, from Kaleb’s Thumbprint, said: "Thanks to everyone that supported us by coming to the event, giving donations and raffle prizes, we raised £572.42.

"We would like to thank all our family who helped out on the day, we wouldn’t have been able to do it without them.

"A special thanks to Angela Hammond (a member of Belstone Friends Group) who helped us and supported us immensely on the day.

"Our next event will be on September 25, a Curry and Quiz night at The Red Lion, Exbourne."

CHSW runs three hospices, at Little Bridge House at Fremington in North Devon and others in Cornwall and Somerset.

The charity, which works with life-limited children and their families, says it costs more than £8 million each year to run the hospices.
