AN eight-year-old Bow Community Primary School pupil has read as many as 100 books in a single year in a library reading challenge.

In recognition of his achievement, Nico has received a gold Secret Book Quest certificate from Crediton Library.

He has particularly enjoyed reading the Harry Potter series by JK Rowling, and in his spare time likes to build LEGO sets and play cricket and dodgeball.

Next, he plans to read 50 more books to reach a total of 150.

A fun and free way to get children reading, the Secret Book Quest involves reading a set number of books, collecting stickers and deciphering a code.

Children can sign up for the challenge at their local library.
