THE Rev Lindsey Starrs, from the North Creedy Benefice, blessed new gates installed at Morchard Bishop Church of England Primary School.
The new gates were the result of concepts, symbols and designs made by pupils at the school a few years ago and these then went to a designer who put the suggestions together.
The children worked with Paul Dadson, Mid Devon District Council Conservation Officer, who helped with planning and other issues.
The gates were made by Nick Matson from Puddington.
Head Teacher, Chris Sergeant, thanked all those who had worked on the project and said the new gates were a great focal point for the children and visitors to the school and helped to keep children safe from the nearby road.
Rev Starrs paid particular reference to figures in the gates, including the Cross and Fish, representing Jesus, and the Dove representing the Holy Spirit, to name just a few of the interesting figures and symbols.
All the pupils at the school took part in the blessing ceremony.
