THE Music Makers’ will present a “New Year’s Day Concert” for young players in the afternoon of Sunday, January 1. All are very welcome at Crediton Congregational Church for this informal occasion, now in its third year.

Doors are open at 2.30pm for refreshments, with music from 3pm. The concert features a number of promising piano, woodwind and string players, aged from eight to 18, at varying levels of development. The piano is a modern Welmar grand.

Most of the performers have achieved highly in recent exams - among them Daniel Toll (piano), Maya Richards (violin) and her brother Daniel Richards (piano).

Making their first public appearance are Lydia Saunders (recorder), Pawel Pawlac (piano) and Morgan Vincent (violin). They have been taught by a variety of locally-based teachers. The accompanist is Carol Galton, from Exeter.

Admission is £5, to cover the costs of the event.

Following the concert there will be a free showing of Charlie Chaplin’s classic – and very funny – film The Circus.
