ON Saturday, February 21 there will be a short concert in the Holy Cross Church in Crediton at 7pm.

Soprano Alison Routh and pianist Roger Stephenson will perform songs by Vaughan Williams, Paul McClure and Schubert.

Crediton-based choir, The Ad Hoc Singers, conducted by Jo Ward, will sing during the middle part of the concert.

The final piece will be the hauntingly beautiful song cycle “Miroir de Peine” by Dutch composer Hendrik Andriessen. It explores Mary’s complex feelings and thoughts about her son’s crucifixion.

Soloist Alison Routh will be accompanied by a string ensemble conducted by Simon Routh.
