THE next Music Makers’ evening will be held on Saturday, July 22 at Crediton Congregational Church, with music starting at 7pm.

Now entering a fourth year, this is the 17th event in the quarterly series and features a number of new performers, as well as some familiar faces - and a rewarding variety of music.

The Music Makers’ creates a regular platform for locally-based musicians to perform in front of a supportive and friendly audience. It is also a fine opportunity to sample a wide range of musical styles and works by an astonishing range of composers.

An eight-strong QE Strings Group will play historic works by Antonin Dvorak and Antonio Vivaldi. A trio of flautists, called Flute Cake, will perform a contemporary set by local composer Sam Richards. Bassoonist Prue Tasman is the first to represent this instrument at these events.

Younger players are well-represented, with newcomers Dodie and Robyn Bowman accompanying each other on violin and piano, and promising young cellist Ella Golby, accompanied by Carol Galton.

In all, a record 16 performers will be taking part.

Now a firm feature of the Music Makers’, delicious food by Eran’s Kitchen (of Crediton’s Baobab café) will be available for an extra £5, alongside the Music Makers’ usual hospitality.

Concert and recital events at Crediton Congregational Church during 2017 have been generously supported by Crediton chartered accountants Stapletons.

Admission is £7 (under 18s free), doors open at 6.30pm and all are welcome.
