A NEW community group dedicated to making Cullompton greener and more sustainable has officially launched, bringing together local residents to share ideas and help shape future environmental projects.
The Cullompton Green Group, established by Involve Mid Devon and funded by The National Lottery Community Fund, held its launch event at The Walronds on Wednesday, July 1.
Local residents and organisations attended the event, where they heard about the group's vision, explored displays showcasing work already completed, and shared their own ideas for future projects. Several attendees also signed up to volunteer, providing a fantastic foundation for the group's future activities.
Guests enjoyed refreshments while learning about successful initiatives already delivered through the project, including clothes swap events and the Pre-Loved Prom pilot, which aims to reduce textile waste while helping local families access affordable prom wear.
The evening encouraged people to contribute ideas for future projects, with suggestions including repair cafés, seed swaps, surplus food initiatives, community growing and further clothes swaps.
Carla Crofts, Community Builder at Involve Mid Devon, said: "We were delighted to welcome people to the launch and hear such a wide range of ideas from the community. It was fantastic to see people already wanting to volunteer and help shape the future of the group.
“This is just the beginning, and we're excited to work alongside local people to turn these ideas into reality."
The Cullompton Green Group will now begin planning future activities based on the ideas and feedback gathered during the launch.
