THE theme of this year's annual Exhibition with Flowers at Crediton Parish Church will be Lyrics for Life. Some of the nation's favourite poems will be interpreted in eye-catching floral arrangements – from romantic to poignant and witty. It will run from Saturday, May 31 to Thursday, June 5, from 10.30am to 8pm, daily, except Sunday, from 11am to 6pm and Thursday, from 10.30am to 5pm. The annual event is a major fundraiser towards the on-going maintenance and upkeep of the 15th Century Grade 1 listed building which, is thought by some, to be one of the finest parish churches of its kind in Devon. The flower festival is one of the premier events of its type in the area, attracting visitors from across the South West. Organisers promise fantastic floral displays, presented in an entertaining, informative exhibition. The Governor's Room will be open for tours at 12 noon and 3pm daily apart from Sunday, when it will be 3pm only. Tours of the church bell tower will take place at 2pm every day, but not on the Sunday. As part of the festival, two concerts will take place in the church while it is there. On Wednesday, June 4, beginning at 7.30pm, there will be a concert by Crediton Town Band. All are invited to attend. On Saturday, May 31, there will be a concert entitled "Night at the Musicals" and the start time will be 8pm. Tickets are priced at £8 (£5 concessions) and proceeds will be split between Choir Funds and the Music Endowment Fund. Newton St Cyres Art Group will have an exhibition and sale of work at the Boniface Centre, during the time of the festival. Bridge Books of Exe Bridges, Exeter, now the only Christian book shop in Exeter, will sell books as part of the festival. The stalls will include plants donated by Crediton Garden Centre and strawberries, cream and preserves. There will be a tombola every day except on the Sunday. Admission to the exhibition with flowers will be free of charge but donations will be very welcome. Parking is free, there is disabled access to the church and refreshments will be available in the Boniface Centre.
