DEVON-BASED logistics business, Gregory Distribution Limited (GDL) will be using National Lorry Week (September 19-24) to recruit the next generation into the transport industry by staging two impressive vehicle displays in and around Exeter.

The display will feature a trailer especially liveried for Devon Air Ambulance Trust (DAAT) promoting the charity’s imminent introduction of night flying.

Fund-raisers from DAAT will support the Gregory team and will receive a cheque for £1,200 raised by the North Devon sub-region of the Road Haulage Association.

There are plans to display a 44–tonne Gregory articulated lorry for two days at Exeter Services (September 20 and 21) along with a number of vehicles from other South West transport businesses, and at Exeter City Centre’s Bedford Square on Princesshay (September 22 and 24).

The RHA’s National Lorry Week is a UK-wide awareness campaign aimed at demonstrating to the public the vital role that lorry and road freight play in moving the economy and in daily life.

Caroline Creer, DAAT Director of fundraising said: “We are very grateful to Gregory’s who have been staunch supporters of our work for many years. National Lorry Week actually coincides with National Air Ambulance Week so the showcasing of this lorry with the message ‘Help us make night time flight time’ is perfectly timed as DAAT plans to commence nigh operations next month.
