CHARITIES and community groups in Central Devon are being encouraged to apply for funding through this year’s Aviva’s Community Fund which was launched on Wednesday, September 12.

The fund awards between £1,000 and £25,000 to local community projects across a range of categories such as skills for life, health and well-being and community support.

Last year there were more than 450 winners and this year even more than 500 projects will receive funding.

A project is right for the Aviva Community Fund if it:

• will make a positive difference in your community

• is associated with a community organisation or charity, and will take place in the UK

• will be completed or well underway before December 31, 2018

• can ideally be completed with the requested funding alone.

Central Devon MP Mel Stride says it is an opportunity not to be missed.

He said: “I often meet with local charities and voluntary organisations across Central Devon that do fantastic work supporting people with disabilities, helping more young people get involved with sport or assisting older people with transport to go shopping or get to medical appointments.

“This is an exciting opportunity for any local charity or group to secure vital funding for a project that they are eager to get off the ground.”

Applications can be made until 12 noon on October 10 via the website: www.aviva.co.uk – click on “Community Fund” at the bottom of the page.
