CENTRAL Devon MP Mel Stride has written to the Secretary of State for Energy and Climate Change, Amber Rudd MP, passing on 188 pledges from residents in the Crediton area on what they are doing to reduce their carbon footprint and then calling on the Government to secure a “strong global agreement” at the Paris Climate Change conference.

The initiative, dubbed the "Crediton Climate Change", was launched by Sustainable Crediton and was supported by residents of all ages, as well as businesses and local organisations.

Mr Stride said: “I was delighted to receive this petition which I will be handing over to the Secretary and State and I salute the tremendous work that the group carries out on this vital issue.”

Pledges made by residents included recycling more and walking or cycling instead of using the car.
