DRAMATIC images of the consequences of the heavy rain which struck Crediton during the afternoon of Monday, August 15 were captured on camera by local resident Hilary Everitt.

Hilary took pictures of some of the vehicles which bravely made their way through floods in Exhibition Road.

Hilary explained: “I was cycling back from Shobrooke Park on the afternoon of Monday, August 15, when the thunderstorms which had been menacingly rumbling around suddenly erupted overhead.

“I was fortunate to find shelter in a covered area outside the rugby club whilst thunder and lightning ensued.

“The torrential rain soon caused the road to flood and I took these pictures of vehicles driving through the rising water.

“I thought ‘Crediton Courier’ readers might be interested to see them.”
