VOLUNTEERS worked hard on the morning of Saturday (July 3) to tidy up People’s Park Wildlife Garden in Crediton.
Yvonne Crone and Kendra Ezekiel removed weeds that had grown to several feet high and were overtaking the garden.
As the wildlife garden area matures many of the plants are now finding their own niche and thriving. The edible fruit is doing well with strawberries, gooseberries, blackcurrants and three varieties of apple to tempt the wildlife.
The group usually meet on a Saturday from 10am to 1pm and are looking for volunteers to help keep the gardens tidy and the weeds under control. The next working day will be on Saturday, September 18.
If you would like to help, just turn up with suitable gardening tools: probably a fork, secateurs and a trowel will be most useful.
The Wildlife area is at the extreme eastern (Deep Lane) end of the park, next to the steps.
