SATURDAY, AUGUST 6, 12 noon
MORCHARD Bishop’s annual Vintage Rally and Family Fun Day, organised by Morchard Bishop Playing Fields Association, will this year be held on Saturday, August 6, with gates open at 12 noon.
The Vintage Rally will have a large collection of veteran cars of all makes and ages plus tractors, motorbikes and stationary engines.
A police van will be attending to show different aspects of the jobs that the police undertake.
For the children there will be face painting, Mad Mike with his disco drome and the popular balloon race, which last year had a record number of tickets returned.
There will be a variety of food to satisfy all tastes – a barbecue, salads, ice creams and cream teas. The Sports Club licensed bar will be open throughout the afternoon.
Anyone looking for a bargain would do well to visit the car boot sale or one of the many village organisation stalls selling books, bottles or bric-a-brac, or the charity, trade and craft stalls.
There will be a large range of attractions.
Simon Hall will be taking along his mobile forge and will be demonstrating his work and for those who like a flutter there will be ferret racing.
Music for the afternoon will be played by Hatherleigh Silver Band and Morchard Bishop’s own “Banjo Brian.”
As usual there will be a Grand Prize Draw with the first prize a meal for four at The London Inn, Morchard Bishop and many other valuable prizes. Tickets cost £1 each or £5 for a book of five and can be bought at The London Inn beforehand.
Entrance to the Vintage Rally and Fun Day costs just £2 each per adult and 50p per child and is well worth it for an afternoon full of entertainment.
