AFTER three meetings this year, Morchard Bishop has just about sorted out its plans for a Queen’s Platinum Jubilee party for the whole village in June.

Nearly every part of the village is involved in events over the four days from June 2 to include the lighting of the beacon, preceded by a barbecue.

Friday will see a dance at the Playing Fields and barbecue, a band “Honest John” has been booked, a stage is being organised.

For tickets and information, please contact Dawn Parkhouse on 07851 043766 or email: [email protected] .

A walk, led by the Parish Footpaths Group, is planned for Saturday afternoon ending with a cream tea at Emmanuel Methodist Chapel and a children’s disco in the evening at the Sports and Social Club.

On Sunday, June 5, there will be a service in the parish church in the morning, followed by a Party in the Park at the Playing Fields when people will be encouraged to wear something to represent one of the decades of the Platinum reign.

There will be music, games including Target Bowls. The Morchard Sewing Group is organising bunting.

Commemorative mugs for the children are being arranged plus a tree planting, hopefully seven trees in a circle, so long as space can be found.

There will be a Best Dressed House competition in the village.

Funding to help with costs is being sought and there will be a grand draw.
