CREDITON resident, Mike Turnbull has been keeping the flowers blooming at People’s Park, Crediton during the recent heatwave with a wheelbarrow full of watering cans.

Mike, who lives in Okefield Road, fills a number of locally purchased watering cans with water he collects in water butts. He then places them in a wheelbarrow to take down the winding route through People’s Park, carefully avoiding the steps, to the flower beds.

He said: “Crediton Town Council ask me to look after the park because I live nearby and I don’t use a vehicle to get to the park - this helps with the environment.

“I buy the watering cans from Adams Hardware on Crediton High Street to support the local shops.

“I water the flowers in the park with water I collect in my water butts - no metered water is used.

He added: “Crediton Town Council is keeping the park flowering in a very environmentally friendly way! - and to the benefit of local people who enjoy the park.”
