A NEW treasurer is needed for Mid Devon Scout District. There are six committee meetings a year and whoever takes over does not need to know about Scouting, although this would help.

The current treasurer, Mrs Mary Binns from South Zeal, has done the job for three years and is retiring at the end of March.

District secretary, Mrs Joan Lee of Morchard Road, said this is a voluntary job but expenses would be met.

"The treasurer deals with the income and expenditure of the Mid Devon Scout District and also Mid Devon Explorer Scouts and would need to attend committee meetings, usually every other month, deal with the statement of accounts and prepare the end of year accounts.

"There is someone who helps with the Explorer Scouts. We have put up notices and been making enquires but, so far, without success - and we do need a treasurer!" said Mrs Lee.
