DON’T lose your vote. To take part in the Devon County Council and Police and Crime Commissioner Elections on Thursday, May 6 you must make sure that you are registered to vote by Monday, April 19.

Anyone already registered to vote will have received a poll card in early April. If you are not registered, you cannot vote and your credit rating may be affected.

If you have recently moved to the Mid Devon District Council area or have just turned 18, there is still time to get on to the electoral register in time for the election.

Registering is quick and easy and can be done online on the Government website: https://www.gov.uk/register-to-vote .

Other elections are taking place on May 6.

In Mid Devon these include:

• Neighbourhood Planning Referendums for Cullompton

• District Council by-elections in the following wards - Taw, Castle and Westexe.

• Parish Council by-elections in the following wards - Tiverton Castle, Tiverton Lowman (two seats), Tiverton Westexe and Lapford (two seats).

MAKING POLLING STATIONS SAFE

Ahead of the May elections, the Electoral team at Mid Devon District Council is working exceptionally hard to make sure that all polling stations are Covid compliant and safe for voters.

This may mean that some polling stations for these elections have changed. Please check your poll card for details.

If your polling station has changed from your normal venue MDDC apologises for this inconvenience, but says it has carried out risk assessments and has chosen the venues that it feels work best for these elections.

Find out how MDDC is making polling stations safe at: https://www.middevon.gov.uk/election-safety-paramount-this-may/ .

OHER WAYS TO VOTE

Electors who are unable to vote at the polling station can apply for a postal vote or appoint a proxy to vote on their behalf. The deadline for applying for a postal vote is 5pm on Tuesday, April 20. The deadline for appointing a proxy is 5pm on Tuesday, April 27.

You can apply for both on the Council’s website (www.middevon.gov.uk ) or by contacting the Electoral Services team.
