MID Devon District Council has had to make some changes to its waste collections.
On Monday, March 23, due to staff changes, it changed its waste collections as follows:
Recycling and black sack refuse
All fortnightly collections for recycling and black sack waste will continue as per resident’s waste collection calendar: www.middevon.gov.uk/do-it-online/waste-and-recycling/collection-day-lookup/ .
Should there be any delays to collection services, MDDC will update its Daily waste collection updates page with the relevant advice at: www.middevon.gov.uk/residents/recycling-rubbish/report-a-missed-collection/daily-waste-collection-updates/ .
Food waste
MDDC has reduced its weekly food waste collections to fortnightly until further notice. This will be collected on the same day as resident’s recycling and black sack waste.
Garden waste
MDDC has had to suspend fortnightly garden waste collections until further notice.
Delivery of waste containers
All deliveries of waste containers have been suspended until further notice.
Bulky waste
Note: MDDC has discontinued its bulky waste collection service for the time being and it won’t be taking any further bookings until further notice.
Clinical waste
Clinical waste collections will continue as normal on Mondays.
Commercial waste
Commercial waste collections remain unchanged.
MDDC says that the safety of the public and its workers, including its collection crews, is of paramount importance.
It says it will monitor the situation as the country continues its efforts to suppress the COVID-19 virus.
COVID-19 GUIDELINES
MDDC has issued the following guidance for people with confirmed or possible COVID-19.
How to dispose of waste
• KEEP YOUR WASTE AND RECYCLING INSIDE FOR AT LEAST 72 HOURS before putting in your waste storage area.
• Store personal waste (like used tissues) and disposable cleaning cloths securely in rubbish bags.
• Place these bags within a second bag, tie it securely and store it in a separate room from where you are self-isolating.
• Keep the bags there for AT LEAST 72 HOURS before putting them out for collection on your correct collection day.
• Recycling and garden waste can be placed in your usual bin/boxes.
• PLEASE CARRY ON RECYCLING. It is vital that those self-isolating keep using the correct bins. Overfilling your black sacks may result in spillages and loose rubbish in the streets.
• Where possible please place your waste and recycling at the kerb side as close to 6am as possible on the day of collection and not before 6pm the evening before your collection.
