THERE are five Beaver colonies in Mid Devon – Crediton, North Tawton, Okehampton, Sandford, and South Zeal. They all have an active programme, and they would all rather be outdoors exploring and learning, than indoors.

Last year ended with a great Christmas party in Okehampton, where four of the colonies had fun playing games and making decorations for the tree in Crediton Parish Church's Tree Festival with the theme of Dinosaurs!

Sandford, who were the colony who did not come to the party, are the "Hollywood" stars of the future, as they were involved with their local pantomime.

The New Year has started rather quietly due to the weather. A Bingo fundraising event had been planned for Friday, January 15 at the Boniface Centre, Crediton, but had to be postponed.

It is proposed it will go ahead later in the year. Thank you to those who have provided bingo/raffle prizes. Don't worry they are being kept safe for when the bingo does go ahead!

There are lots of activities planned at colony level over the coming term. As a District we are working towards the Devon Air Ambulance Trust badge, with lots of activities to do, one of which is to keep a sightings log.

To fulfil all the requirements of the badge the Beavers have to raise some money for the Devon Air Ambulance Trust. To do this we are going to make a really big helicopter collage and then either auction it to the highest bidder or raffle it off.

So, if there is anyone out there who can help, we would love to hear from you.
