AS a tribute to a former school governor, local councillor and friend of Copplestone Primary School, a memorial was unveiled by his widow in the school grounds.
Eileen Pullen was invited to perform the unveiling of a memorial stone, in memory of her late husband, Dave Pullen, in a dedicated area in the school grounds.
She was accompanied by members of her family, including her children and some of her grandchildren.
Others at the ceremony included school staff, fellow governors, some of the school council and local county councillor, Nick Way.
Head Teacher, Stuart Busby, said that when he first arrived at Copplestone Primary School for his job interview he was welcomed by Dave Pullen, who helped put him at ease.
He said that he had been supportive of his work at the school and described Dave as a "problem solver" who would "get things done".
He described him as an "enabler" and said he remembered, with affection, Dave serving Christmas lunches for the children.
Governor Marion Born said fellow governors always appreciated his input at meetings.
Eileen Pullen unveiled the memorial stone and also presented the school with a trophy, in David's memory, which will be presented to the class, each week, with the best attendance.
Mrs Pullen said that her husband, who died in 2009, enjoyed visiting the school, where, she said, he always appreciated that the children were very well behaved.
It is hoped to establish the dedicated area at the school as an orchard in Dave Pullen's memory.
