THE next, and final, music evening this year for the St Boniface Concert Society will take place on Thursday, September 22 at Crediton Parish Church and will feature Renaissance and Baroque Music by “Galliarda”.

Sara Stowe (soprano), Ibi Aziz (viola da gamba), Richard Mackenzie (lute, theorbo, early guitar) and Wendy Hancock (Baroque flute, recorder, viola) played for the St Boniface Concert Society in 2013 and they return this season by popular request.

Formed in 2010 to perform in country houses and other historical settings, Galliarda is a unique small classical music group of highly respected performers who have wide experience of performing internationally, recording, teaching and research in the fields of Renaissance and Baroque music.

Entitled “Mediterranean Temperament”, their programme has it all: passion from Spain, virtuosity from Italy and lyricism from France – all countries bordering on the Mediterranean Sea — represented by composers such as Frescobaldi, Cima and Leclair with folk songs from Spain and France.

The concert starts at 7.30pm and tickets, which cost £14 (student/concession £6, Under 16 free), are available from A E Lee Outfitters, High Street, Crediton and on the door on the evening.
