BELOW is a copy of a letter I have sent to the Area East Highway Management at Little Moor House, Falcon Road, Sowton Industrial Estate, Exeter:
THIS pothole (presumably initially caused by the ravages of Winter 2009) is now around one metre across and more than 10 centimetres deep). The road is very well used, particularly in the morning and evening rush hours and the pothole presents a big logistical problem for drivers; an accident has already been caused by wheels losing grip in attempting to avoid it in the current icy conditions.
A temporary repair was made to the hole some time ago, but it is now far worse than it was originally. For a week vehicles have had to mount the pavement and in the icy conditions this has caused real danger to pedestrians because vehicles have slewed there in icy conditions.
I realise that this is only one of many such problems that will have been reported to you in the last few days, but this one is really endangering life, as a few second's observation would show.
I am both mailing and e-mailing this to you, so that you receive it as quickly as possible.
I am also sending a copy to Michael Lee and Nick Way, our county councillors.
I am also sending it to Mel Stride, the prospective Conservative Party candidate, Phil Hutty, our prospective Liberal Democrat Candidate, UKIP candidate Bob Edwards and Labour Party candidate Digby Trout and also to the Editorial Manager of the Crediton Courier.
