GETTING ready for a 100 mile cycle ride on June 27 to raise money for the FORCE cancer charity are two Crediton men, Mark Bowen and Andrew Stubbs.
Both work at Ernest Jackson and Co on Crediton High Street, and both have done this ride six times, plus other charity cycle rides.
In September they will be doing another big ride for charity - one of the stages of the Tour of Britain in the week before the race, from Minehead to Teignmouth to raise funds for the Prostate Cancer Charity.
The June 27 ride will take them from Topsham, over the roof of Exmoor and back to Topsham via South Molton. "It is a good ride," said Mark.
He took up cycling again 16 years ago with a ride to raise funds for the British Heart Foundation with colleagues from work. Now he is out most Sundays riding with a group called "The Bike Shed Boys".
Mark's son, Josh aged 13, did a 27 mile ride this month over the Somerset Levels to raise funds for the British Heart Foundation. He goes to Queen Elizabeth's Community College and plays for F C Newton St Cyres Under 13 squad.
Josh had been training by taking shortish rides "around the block" at home and did a 10 mile ride along the Exeter Canal with his father. His eight years old sister Jasmin also cycles.
