MAKE do and mend used to be the cry, now it is "Don’t bin it, take it to be mended" and the place for that is the Repair Cafe being held in Crediton every two months.

To make this happen, a grant of £970 has been awarded from the Community Together Fund (formerly TAP) through Mid Devon District Council. The money has been used to buy a PAT (Portable Appliance Testing) tester and to train people in PAT testing.

All the people behind the tables at the Repair Cafe held at Crediton Methodist Church Hall, were volunteers who had been asked to take with them the tools they might need including sewing machines. Louise had taken her overlocker, just in case, and it was well used. Her morning included changing a zip in a pair of trousers.

As well as the Communities Together Fund money, the Cafe has had grants from the Exeter Coast and Country Methodist Circuit and the Community Action Group Devon.
