NFU MUTUAL has donated as much as £7,899 to Age Concern Crediton.
Insurance agents and staff at the rural insurer’s Crediton agency nominated the local charity for the cash boost, which is a slice of the company’s national £2.33 million “Agency Giving Fund”.
The donation will help Age Concern Crediton keep supporting older people in the community with hot meals, social activities and more.
Demand for its services has gone up significantly in recent months, amid rising living costs and growing isolation among the elderly.
“We're incredibly thankful to the Crediton agency of NFU Mutual for choosing to support us through the Agency Giving Fund,” Age Concern Crediton Trustee and Treasurer John Potter said.
“This donation has helped us keep our community centre running, providing a warm, welcoming place where older people can enjoy hot meals and reliable transport to get here.
"One of our regulars, June, told us that the weekly lunch club and transport there is the highlight of her week; it's where she feels part of something again.
“Support like this truly changes lives, and we're so grateful.”
NFU Mutual Crediton Insurance Agent Jeremy Atkins added: “We're extremely proud to have nominated Age Concern Crediton for this donation and are delighted to be able to support the vital contribution they make to our community.
“The purpose of NFU Mutual's Agency Giving Fund is to support local frontline charities who are providing essential services to people in our community, and our agency felt that Age Concern Crediton was a very deserving cause to champion.”
NFU Mutual offers a wide range of products, including general insurance, life, pensions, and investments.
It has a network of more than 280 agency offices nationwide.
