NFU MUTUAL agents and their staff at the Crediton agency have nominated local charity Crediton Foodbank and Support Hub to receive a donation of £7,899 from NFU Mutual’s national £2.33 million “Agency Giving Fund”.

The leading rural insurer launched this fund, now in its sixth year, to help local frontline charities who need it most across the country, and it forms part of NFU Mutual’s £4 million funding pledge for both local and national charities in 2026.

To help ensure these donations reach all corners of the UK and are directed to where they’re needed most, all NFU Mutual agencies, which includes more than 280 agency offices nationwide, have been given the opportunity to nominate local charities to receive a share of the fund.

This donation has enabled Crediton Foodbank to continue its Springboard project, which works with Church Housing Action Team (CHAT), to help clients identify benefits or other financial support they may be entitled to, as well as practical opportunities to reduce household costs, debt or repayments.

The aim is to help people improve their financial position and move towards no longer needing foodbank support. Part of the donation will also support changes to a room at the foodbank, creating a more private and comfortable space for one-to-one conversations with clients.

The support comes at an important time for Crediton Foodbank. Although the Crediton community continues to be generous, the charity has seen a drop in financial donations over the past 12 months, while rising living costs are placing increased pressure on families and older people. This includes working households that are finding it increasingly difficult to make their income last through the month.

Chairperson of the Board of Trustees at Crediton Foodbank Keri Storey said: “I would like to extend our gratitude to NFU Mutual Crediton for their incredibly generous donation.”
