A NUMBER of local groups have received awards of funding thanks to monies from the Den Brook Wind Farm Community Fund, which receives funding from the levy from the wind farm in the Den Brook Valley between North Tawton, Bow and Spreyton.
Members of the Den Brook Community Fund committee met in September to review applications for projects submitted for the second round of funding.
The committee voted to award funds to the following: First South Zeal Scout Group, Actors of North Tawton Society, Bow Village Centre (Heart of Devon), Bow Swimming Pool Management Committee, Spreyton Village Trust, North Tawton Bowling Club, Trustees of North Tawton Memorial Park and Bow Recreation Group CIC.
The grants awarded contributed towards a village hall refurbishment project, LED stage lighting and communications equipment, a swimming pool refurbishment project, a park renewal project including play area equipment, a short-mat bowling project, internal fittings and fixtures towards a project for new changing rooms and scouting equipment.
Applications for new projects from voluntary organisations, clubs and societies (based in the five parishes of Bow, North Tawton, South Tawton, Spreyton and Zeal Monachorum) are invited for the round of grant awards.
The closing date is January 31, 2019.
