THE St Boniface Concert Society is delighted to bring live music to Crediton once again.
The 2021 season starts with an exciting recital by the Hill Quartet on Thursday, May 20 at 7.30pm in Crediton Parish Church.
The Hill Quartet is an innovative, young, award-winning ensemble, currently Chamber Fellows at the Royal Academy of Music: Bridget O’Donnell (violin), David López Ibáñez (violin), Julia Doukakis (viola) and Ben Michaels (’cello).
The quartet’s plans for this summer include the West Cork, North York, and Rye Arts Festivals, as well as a residency at the Snape Maltings.
In previous seasons the quartet played at St Martin-in- the-Fields and other prestigious London venues, as well as on Radio 3.
Its recent Ravel performance at the outdoor Bandstand Chamber Festival was praised in a five-star review as a "fluid and refined interpretation".
Awards they have won include the Sir John Barbirolli Prize, Dorothy and Marjorie White Prize, and Alexander Kelly Prize.
The Hill Quartet is firmly rooted in the classical tradition but is also keen to commission and play contemporary music.
Their programme on May 20 will include the Mozart String Quartet no. 21 in D Major, the Ravel String Quartet in F Major, and Winter Blues (2020) by the Jazz-Bassist Misha Mullov-Abbado, which they premiered last year at the Conway Hall.
All concerts are taking place in line with Government Guidelines pending the Stage 3 roadmap release on May 17.
Tickets, priced at £14 for adults (full-time students under 30 are free) can be obtained from A E Lee Outfitters in the High Street, or from: [email protected] .
They are also available on-line from: www.ticketsource.co.uk , (search ticketsource for Hill Quartet).
