LINDA Brown, proprietor of The Station Tearooms at Crediton Railway Station, has been awarded the Citizen of the Year award 2015 from the Rotary Club of Crediton.

This is in recognition of the work Linda has done in setting up the “Memory Cafe" at the Station Tearooms.

The Memory Cafe is for the benefit of people suffering from Alzheimers and Dementia.

Besides a certificate and perpetual shield, Linda received a cheque for her chosen charity - the Memory Cafe.

The Memory Cafe is now into its third year and has expanded to include up to three sessions a week.

It provides a venue for people with memory problems to relax and socialise with others.

Brian Shillingford, chair of the Crediton Dementia Action Alliance, said: "Linda goes to a lot of trouble to find suitable activities and entertainment. She has enhanced the lives of many, both those suffering and their carers and supporters."

The Rotary Club of Crediton has been giving this award for some 25 years.
