FRIENDS of Crediton Library (FoCL) have been busy raising funds for a project to make the existing static library shelving mobile.

FoCL put £300 towards the project and £300 was awarded from the Devon County Council Locality Budget Fund to make up the total cost of £600.

The addition of the wheels will make the existing space in the library more useable for larger groups and community events and will provide the opportunity for additional income for the library by renting the increased space to outside groups.

The new wheels have made the previously static shelving physically feasible for two adults to now move safely.

FoCL member Paul McLaughlin researched the project and found suitable wheels for the shelving.

Local builder Steve Willis and some friends then fitted the wheels for the group.

The Friends group is currently planning a schedule of events which will put the mobile shelving to good use.
