BY 2035 we will need at least 70GW of nuclear/gas powered generators over many days in a row when solar and wind power drops to only a few GW.

By then the grid will have to carry the loads of 350,000 roadside EV chargers, millions of heat pumps and new electric cookers, 1.5 million new houses plus a few data centres, electric arc furnaces and some new rail electrification.

Battery capacity will expire after a few hours, then nuclear or gas power stations be needed to carry grid demand and re charge batteries.

It doesn’t matter how good batteries are, as they have to be re charged when wind and solar power is negligible for several days.

But sadly the government is not planning to replace 50GW of aging nuclear and gas fired generators that are due to retire by the early 30s.

Even 20GW of EU Inter-connectors, will not make up the short fall. Indeed Northern Europe may well suffer from low solar and wind intensity at the same time as the U.K.

So unless something changes there will be power rationing or unplanned power cuts, by the early 30s.

It should be clear that solar and wind energy is not cheap, once you add the cost of back up and grid upgrades. If it was cheap then it would not have needed well over £200 billion in green subsidies.

97% of global emissions are natural. The U.K. emits < 1% of the other 3%. That means that the U.K. contributes <0.03% of global emissions.

Also worth noting is that CO2 follows temperature while the GHG impact of the gas declines with every ppm increase.

Unsurprisingly Prof Linzden concluded that: “The influence of mankind on climate is trivially true and numerically insignificant.”

So you have to ask WHY are we to pay several £ trillion while exacerbating fuel poverty and grid instability and exporting our industry?

We are exporting to countries which are building a record number of coal fired power stations, as they make wind turbine, solar panels and electric vehicles for us.

It makes no sense.
