OUR library goes beyond the loan of books. It has provided a hub for well-supported activities for the town and surrounding villages.

The library provides a welcome base for a range of activities including local book clubs, a knitting group, as well as events for parents and youngsters.

Friends of Crediton Library run book sales to provide extra funds for the library which have been used by the librarian to enhance facilities and help to fund extra activities.

Library staff have organised out-of-hours activities including film shows, a murder mystery evening as well as a range of illustrated talks, fees being charged to cover costs. The extra activities have proved very popular and booked up soon after announced.

Crediton Library provides a central and key hub for the town and surrounding areas so please be aware of the impact of the cuts to this important facility.

Whilst recognising that Devon County Council has to reduce the budget allocated, I ask that cuts across its libraries be made on an equal basis.
