THE Crediton Food and Drink Festival Committee would like to thank all the people, from Crediton and from further afield, who attended the Crediton Food and Drink Festival on Saturday, June 10 and made it such a successful day.
Despite the showers, thousands of people attended this free event to help make it lively and fun as well as providing us with a wide range of delicious food and drink to try and to buy.
The feedback we’ve received has been very positive both from the public and from the stallholders.
The event was organised by our committee of four volunteers (yes, only four!) so we are extremely grateful to our sponsors for their support and help.
Our heartfelt thanks go to the Town Council, Ashgrove Kitchens, Peck and Strong, the Locality Fund (Frank Letch) and the Chamber of Commerce.
Thanks also go to the Town Crier, Kevin Payne, Betty Boyns Designs, Bracken Jellier, those who gave demonstrations and talks, to Sandford Sings for serenading us at lunchtime and, not forgetting, to our families who were roped in to help!
We’d particularly like to mention and thank both the Town Clerk, Rachel Avery, and Ashgrove Kitchens for their contributions.
Ashgrove have given generously, both in financial support and with their time and resources, since the festival began and, it would be fair to say, the festival would never have happened without them over the years.
Rachel, as Town Clerk, has also helped enormously in bringing back the event this year, both in her "official" capacity but also with her "unofficial" support on the day.
She helped us all day, for which she is not paid, and the extra pair of hands and her positivity were invaluable.
If the town wants to keep the event going, more volunteers are desperately needed to take the festival forward.
