HAVING read the article in the “Courier” dated January 28, about the council tax increase for the coming year attributable to Crediton Town Council I would comment as follows:

The 2022 to 2023 precept has increased by 14 per cent

The 2021 to 2022 precept increased by 25 per cent.

The percentage increase in the precept during the last five years is in excess of that made by any English parish/town council I can find anywhere else.

If there has been a higher percentage increase elsewhere perhaps someone could draw my attention to it?

This produces the immediate question of how efficiently our council is run? I also observe that salaries have increased by some £90,000 during the last two years.

Would the council care to explain what is going on to explain these massive percentage increases?

How exactly has Crediton Town council tax payers benefitted?

Is the council totally unaware of the enormous financial pressures, particularly the increase in energy costs, now faced by virtually every family and adult in the land?
