Crediton Town Council should have been given a fair chance to purchase the Crediton Offices, but District Councillor Ray Stanley, who had proposed that the Crediton Offices were NOT to be sold to Crediton Town Council, was backed by the Leader of MDDC Council, Cllr Clive Eginton.
Why? is a question I have asked myself, as no doubt have many other people who have lived in Crediton for many years, MDDC have basically bullied “Crediton Town Council” into their present position, so putting them in a weak situation.
Crediton Town Council should go to the Local Government Ombudsman as soon as possible.
I see no other way in getting fairness from MDDC, whom are just acting out of greed.
I call on all other residents of Crediton and area to write a letter of complaint to the MDDC in supporting Crediton Town Council purchasing the Crediton Offices at 50 per cent of the original restricted value.
MDDC have been very underhand in their dealings as I see it, and wonder what agreements have been made with Buyer 2!
Where the nine organisations will find a new meeting premises in the future certainly won’t be as central in the town or as suitable, but the Crediton Town Council’s decision not to continue renting the offices from Buyer 2 at a very much inflated rent and still having to pay for the buildings up keep is absolutely correct.
I urge Crediton residents to complain to MDDC to stop the sale and go to the Ombudsman.
