DURING the last couple of months I have lost count of the number of enquiries I have had about the parish church clock chimes and when they will be restored.

At the moment I do not have an installation date for the new auto wind motors but can reassure everyone that the chimes will be restored.

We have all the funding in place, thanks to a number of very kind and generous individuals in the town, we have all the required permissions, an order has been placed with the Cumbria Clock Company and the minor electrical alterations needed to accommodate the new auto-wind motors have been completed.

Anyone wishing to see the clock mechanism in the church tower will have the opportunity during the forthcoming Flower Festival which runs from Saturday, June 2 until Thursday, June 7.

There will be a daily tower tour at 2pm (except Sunday) conducted by members of our bellringing team.
