THIS year’s Royal British Legion Appeal in Crediton and Hamlets raised an amazing £10,062!
Like so many things, the Poppy Appeal had to adapt despite the Covid-19 pandemic.
The Legion worked with its members, staff, volunteers and partners to create a range of ways for people to show support and donate at a time when circumstances only allowed for limited collections.
As a result of Covid-19 many of our volunteers were understandably unable to assist.
Limited stocks and reduced footfall in areas meant that our Poppy Appeal income would have been at real risk had the town and surrounding villages not shown tremendous support.
My personal thanks and those of the Branch Committee go out to everyone, who, any way they were able, gave support whether by giving their time or by a donation, whether they were an individual, an organisation or a local retailer.
Due to the pandemic our expectations were that this year’s total would be significantly down on last year’s total however, thanks to everyone’s generosity our total was only down by £2,000.
Remembrance for many is every day when they are living with a disability or a loss of a loved one.
Every purchase of merchandise or a simple poppy makes a difference to the lives of our Armed Forces community - past, present and future. So, once again, my heartfelt thanks for everyone’s support.
Thank you, as every poppy really does count.
