GO ‘pink’ this June and support a leading women’s charity in its campaign to end violence against women and girls in Plymouth.

Local women’s charity Trevi is inviting supporters to step out with pink hair again this June to raise vital funds to support women affected by domestic violence and abuse and help end violence against women and girls.

Supporters can be individuals, groups of friends, sports teams or even work colleagues.

You can choose to wear a wig, use a hair colour app filter, or go one step further and courageously colour your hair pink.

You could wear pink clothes, pink hard hats, pink hair nets, pink lipstick, pink ties, organise a pink bake sale, basically anything PINK goes!

The campaign aims to raise awareness of the charity’s work and raise vital funds to support more women affected by trauma to gain a fresh start in life. In previous years the campaign has raised more than £2,000.

Although the Pink Hair Don’t Care campaign has been designed to be fun and empower people to be bold and courageous, the campaign has a serious side as Trevi continues to support vulnerable women and campaign to end violence against women and girls.

Trevi supports more than 1,000 women a year through their services.

During the past year, 480 women have registered with its Sunflower Women’s Centre services in the community, which include workshops, therapy groups, mentoring and counselling – 67 per cent of those who used the centre were survivors of domestic abuse.

During the year, 96 per cent of women supported by Sunflower say it has been a lifeline, with 85 per cent able to move forward in life after accessing support.

Sarah accessed Trevi’s services and said: “Without Trevi, I dread to think where I would be now.

“Here I have received so much support and learned a new way of living and the tools to live a happy life with all my children.

“I have received so much support and learned a whole new way of living and the tools to live a well and happy life with all my children.”

All of Trevi’s services are delivered by a dedicated and trauma informed team of women-only support workers, therapists, and specialist practitioners who work with every woman to address the trauma in her life and help her understand how it manifests so that she can begin to heal, grow and move forward.

Trevi’s staff and volunteers themselves will join in the fun on Friday, June 23, when the whole staff team will go pink in support of the campaign.
