TO mark the 70th anniversary of the Exeter Branch of the Royal Army Service Corps/Royal Corps of Transport Association, a special “Last Night of the Proms” evening is being hosted by ABF The Soldiers’ Charity at Downes House, Crediton on Saturday, June 4. The Soldiers’ Charity is the National Charity of the British Army.

The Salamanca and Waterloo Bands of The Rifles, together with special guests soprano Penny Daw and Exmouth-based award-winning Centre Stage will be raising funds and giving Devon veterans a night to remember.

A full musical programme will include a special tribute with veterans parading their association standards from branches across Devon including Exeter, Plymouth and Bideford.

The open air concert will celebrate local veterans and raise funds for ABF The Soldiers’ Charity.

Gates at Downes will open from 6pm and the programme will begin at 7pm.

Guests will be able to take along their own picnics, chairs and rugs and there will be a cash bar run by Exe Valley Brewery. 

Crediton veteran Philip Hutchens, the event organiser, commented: “This party in the park is one of the highlights of our calendar and we are hoping that as many people as possible will come along to support the Charity and our veterans.

“In 2014 we got a bit wet, but the band played on and the atmosphere at the finale was fantastic.”
