THE Heart of Devon has announced that with sadness and after much deliberation, it has decided to make the next Heart of Devon Festival at Bow on Saturday, June 16, the last such festival for the foreseeable future.

Mick Richards, from the Heart of Devon committee, said: “It wasn’t an easy decision; we know how much the event means to many people.

“However, since 2009, the Festival has grown each year and is now beyond what our small group of volunteers can manage.

“This is not the end of Heart of Devon; we will be able to concentrate all our efforts on the smaller events we organise during the year.”

Mr Richards continued: “We are still finalising the line-up but as a teaser we do know that ‘Eat the Rich’ will be making a return visit. We’ll let you know more as our plans firm up!

“One of our main aims is to support the community and as in previous years we encourage local groups and charities to raise money on the day by offering space for stalls and activities for no charge.

“It is always nice to hear how much these good causes make and how much they enjoy the festival.

“If you would like a stall or have an idea for an activity for the 2018 festival, please let us know.”

Speaking with regard to the 2017 festival, Mr Richards thanked all who supported it in any way and said that in terms of numbers and revenue, it was the most successful year yet.

He added: “It was lovely to see so many people of all ages enjoying the day. Thank you too for all of the positive feedback, it really makes it worthwhile.”
