LAPFORD'S Autumn Flower Show was "one of the best ever," said Chairman Sue Brient-Evans, with good quality exhibits in all sections.

Cups were awarded to the best exhibit in each section and winners were: Photography Noel Parry; Homecraft Pearl Burrows, with her three cheese scones.  

In the floral art section, Jillian Stall's arrangement depicting  a Season of Mists, won her the cup.    Edwin Pike's three desert apples won him the trophy for best exhibit in the fruit classes.  

In the vegetable classes, Mrs. Eileen Ridd's three onions grown from sets, took the top award  and in the flower classes, Peter Heal's small red ball dahlias won the challenge cup.

Mrs. Joan Henderson received the trophy for most points in the show and also the cup for her lavender bag, in the craft section and 11-years-old Jessica Burrows won the children's cup.

Other top winners included: Photography Rebecca Holley and Noel Parry; Homecrafts Edna Copus, Pearl Burrows, Rebecca Holley, Joan Henderson,  Sue Brient-Evans; Floral Art Jillian Stalls and Joan Henderson; Fruit Edwin Pike, Sue Brient-Evans, Rebecca Holley, Jean Button and Margaret Frampton;  Vegetables section: Collection of Vegetables Edwin Pike,  Jillian Stalls, Sue Brient Evans, Edwin Pike,  Eileen Ridd, Edna Copus, Jean Black, Peter Heal, Rebecca Holley and Joan Henderson,

Flowers: Noel Parry, Eileen Ridd, Sue Brient-Evans, J Burrows and Jessica Burrows.    Pot Plants: Eileen Ridd, Joan Henderson, Jessica Burrows and  Jean Black;  Fun Section: heaviest onion Eileen Ridd; longest runner bean and heaviest potato Joan Henderson; heaviest marrow Sue Brient-Evans;    most impressive weed Joan Henderson with Caper Spuge. 

There was also the class for the heaviest crop of potatoes grown from one tuber in a bucket and the winner was Eileen Ridd with 3lb 5oz, runner-up was her husband Paul Ridd, at 2lb 14oz and third was Edna Copus at 2lb 3oz.   

The judges were Mike and Karen Edwards from Witheridge, Una Hobbs Bow, and Angela Searle Crediton.     

Brian Frampton and Eileen Ridd ran the plant stall, and thanks go to the committee ladies who did the teas.
