I HAVE been fortunate to be part of Crediton’s community for almost 10 years now and more fortunate that I am accepted as a local retailer.

It saddens me though that Mid Devon District Council/Devon County Council Highways Department (will we ever know who’s responsible?) fail to listen to cries from its community that struggles to combat the disconcerning pathway and kerbs up and down Union Terrace in Crediton in mobility scooters.

Following requests to deal with necessary adaptations to these kerbs I constantly watch near accidents on a daily basis.

Mothers, fathers, grandparents and the disabled are having to risk their lives and the lives of others by having to use the road in BOTH directions to by-pass kerbs, with their prams and scooters.

One particular lady, Diane McKnight suffered injuries when her mobility scooter turned over. Time is up, action needs taking!

Whoever is responsible please see that this issue is dealt with before we have a fatality. The kerb needs lowering.
