INSPIRING couple, Joan and Ivor Smith celebrated their Platinum Wedding Anniversary on Tuesday, April 24 and were delighted to receive a card from HRH The Queen.

The couple, who live in Crediton started courting at the age of 15 years when they worked in adjacent shops in Birmingham. Ivor is 92 and Joan will be 92 in October.

They married in Quinton near Birmingham in 1948 at the age of 22 when Ivor came out of the forces.

It was a meagre wedding because rationing was still on but everyone donated what they could to make the day a happy and successful one...
