JEMIMA Yeandle, aged 11, was the winner of a competition to design a logo for the proposed Community Shop in Cheriton Fitzpaine.

Jemima received a book token prize from David Plumridge, chairman of the group proposing to open a Community Shop in Cherition Fitzpaine.

Runner-up was 10-year-old Willow Taragon.

Both designers are in Beech Class at Cheriton Fitzpaine Primary School.

Simon and Hannah Ramsey of: www.ramseysdesignlab.com judged the competition and praised both designs.

Jemima had chosen a likeable scarecrow character to promote local produce and Willow’s design depicted a community working together.

The two prize winners also received a ‘FAB’ ‘fun arty box’ kindly donated by Sarah Cressall of www.thecreationstation.co.uk from Woodbury, who was impressed with both girls’ talents.

A version of Jemima’s design will appear on everything connected with the community shop, from signage to aprons.

The next Public Meeting about the shop will be held at 7.30pm Monday, January 30, in St Matthew’s Church, Cheriton Fitzpaine.
