“ANOTHER brilliant year at QE for our A level students” was the comment from Jo McDade, assistant principal Queen Elizabeth’s Academy Trust, when results were announced last week.

Principal Rupert Poole said: “We are delighted that this year’s results have once again confirmed our status as an outstanding sixth form.

“Students achieved a 99 per cent pass rate at A Level with a fantastic 30 per cent of grades at  A* or A and 48 per cent grades at  A* to B.

“These excellent results across the full range of subjects we offer at QE are a testament to the hard work of students and teachers.

“Of particular note is geography where we have a long history of outstanding results and this subject is becoming a nationally recognised centre of excellence for A level.”

Mr Poole added that students were heading off to universities across the country to study art to medicine and everything in between!

Sarah Tucker is going to Reading with an unconditional offer to study Agriculture. Mr Poole said it was interesting to note the number of students who were choosing politics or related subjects at university, a trend the college had noticed over the past two years, which is why government and politics have been added to its A level offer this year.

He said the college was particularly keen to support all students to make the right choices as individuals, whether that be university or apprenticeships.

For example, Alice Dowle was taking up an apprenticeship in graphics and signwriting and Chloe Gibson will be training as a paralegal at local solicitors, Charlesworth Nicholl.

Head of Sixth Form Paula Smith was delighted with the achievements of all the students, who had contributed brilliantly to “our vibrant and high achieving sixth form”.

“We celebrate the individual successes and the progress all our students have made and special mention must go to some of our particularly high achieving students,” she added.
