AIR QUALITY in parts of Crediton is so bad that some parents are limiting the time their children play in their garden!

Statistics revealed in recent months show there is serious cause for concern.

The air quality monitoring machine in Exeter Road has indicated worrying results for particulate matter (PM10 - particulates less than 10 microns in size), with many exceedences of the European Union authorised guidelines in the last few months.

Crediton was declared an Air Quality Management Area, AQMA, some years ago and a committee meets on a regular basis to see what can be done to ease the problem.

In some parts of the town it has been stated that the air quality is worse than many inner city areas.

Many residents are calling on Devon County Council to build a link road for the town as soon as possible, but not close to the town, ie, preferring the Valley route option than the nearer Western route option.
