I ATTENDED the meeting of the Joint Hospital Action Group on Saturday, April 11 at the Boniface Centre. May I begin by congratulating everyone who organised this very informative and lively meeting. I am pleased that the meeting was well attended and it was good to see that BBC "Spotlight" was there to highlight what is a concern not just for Crediton's Hospital but others in the region who are facing closure be it temporary of permanent. My concern for Crediton is this: if the closure is temporary, for how long? And, if one of the reasons for the closure is as has been suggested, that the hospital has been unable to attract suitable qualified staff, what are we going to do to attract staff to Crediton? And, more to the point is the reason for the failure to attract staff because there would not be security for staff because of the then threat of closure? These are questions that I am asking and I think that we in Crediton deserve answers. We will campaign until we get them. I for one have just applied to become a Friend of the Hospital.
