I MUST congratulate all the people who have taken the time to write to The Courier on the emotive subject of the proposed link road. Every point they make is a valid one.
I myself did not know that changes to the route had been proposed, until I read about it in the Courier and I am a member of the Town Council!
I have since learned that the proposals were published on a website, but if one is not on line, or prompted to do so, how are people to know? Of course there will be more consultations, costing even more money, when we thought that the route had been decided or approved?
All I can suggest to my beleaguered friends and neighbours is that they attend the Annual Town Meeting on April 28 at the Boniface Centre, starting at 7.30pm.
This matter will be open for discussion and hopefully; the right people will be there to answer questions.
I would, however, stress that this item will be one of many, so I want to encourage as many people as possible to attend.
Much work and thought has gone into making this meeting both productive and informative.
Another matter that I would draw your readers' attending to is a meeting in the Council offices on April 30 which has been co-ordinated by Judi Binks to discuss the Link Road and resulting problems. This meeting will also begin at 7.30pm.
To your correspondents I do understand where you are all coming from and share your concerns, but will say that there is a long way to go before a final decision is taken.
In the meantime, make your views known at meetings in the appropriate manner.
