ON an incredibly hot afternoon on Saturday, June 30, stalls were able to circle the lawn at Napleton House, Zeal Monachorum to take advantage of the shade at the fundraising afternoon for St Peter’s Church at Zeal, held at the home of Mrs Debbie Stericker and family.

Well-stocked stalls included home-made cakes, flowers and preserves as well as a number of games.

Mike Bostock, churchwarden, was showing how to use a defibrillator as the village has had one for a while and another will shortly be installed. This was a chance to show people how it would work.

The first one is at the village hall, given by the British Heart Foundation. The second one will be at the Waie Inn, provided by RES from the Den Brook Community Fund.

PCSOs Nikki Payne and Dave Waring were there delighting children by taking their finger prints to go inside a fob for a key ring.

Teas were served in the courtyard and people were able to wander the gardens.

The event raised a total of £720 for St Peter’s Church.
